The Trinity
We believe there are three persons in one God: God the
Father, God the Son (Who is Jesus the Christ), and God the
Holy Spirit.
The Dual Nature of Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus of Nazareth is both fully God and
fully human, and, therefore, the only mediator between God
and us.
Holy Scripture
We believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God,
therefore, we teach nothing that is contrary to the clear
and consistent teaching of the Bible. Where the Bible may
not be clear (e.g., infant Baptism), we then look to how the
Holy Spirit has guided the Christian Church over the
centuries and we pray in the Name of Jesus Christ for divine
guidance today.
The Nicene Creed
We believe in the fourth century
Nicene Creed
continues to be the defining statement of belief for all
Christians.
The Great Commandment
We believe God loves each of us as we are, and that the
necessary response to the love of God is to know, love and
serve God with all our heart, all our soul, all our mind and
all our strength, through worship and obedience, and to love
our neighbor as our self. Thus, we seek and serve Christ in
all persons, strive for justice and peace among all people,
and respect the dignity of every human being.
Salvation
We believe all have sinned and fall short of the glory of
God, that the consequence of sin is death (separation from
God), and that eternal life is by grace alone (it is a free
gift that cannot be earned), through faith in Jesus Christ
alone.
Saving Faith
We believe that faith in Jesus Christ, which is our
salvation, is to know the truth about the person and work of
Christ, to repent and accept that truth as our own, and to
live our lives according to that truth. To accept Jesus
Christ as our Savior is to believe that Jesus died on the
cross for our sins, and was bodily raised by God from the
dead. To accept Jesus Christ as Lord of our life is to seek
to do what God wants in all things rather than what we want.
Spiritual Warfare
We renounce Satan and all the spiritual forces of wickedness
which seek to corrupt and destroy the creatures of God, and,
protected by the whole armor of God and equipped with the
Word of God (the sword of the Spirit), we persevere in
resisting evil.
The Sacraments
We believe that Baptism (immersion in water or sprinkling
with water in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy
Spirit) is the New Covenant equivalent of circumcision, and,
therefore, is the normal rite of initiation by which we
become children of God and heirs of the Kingdom of Heaven.
If baptized as an infant, each person must personally
confirm their acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior,
when they come of age. Furthermore, we believe the bread and
wine of Holy Communion is the body and blood of Christ,
because Jesus said it is. Holy Communion means that all who
profess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior are invited to come
forward to the altar and receive the sacrament.
The Great Commission
We believe the Christ-given mission of the Church, until He
returns again, is to make disciples of all nations; to
preach repentance for the forgiveness of sins and the coming
of the Kingdom of God, to teach people to obey all that God
has commanded, and to heal every disease and every
infirmity, as we are each empowered and gifted by the Holy
Spirit of God.
